June 21 2014 is the day the new BMW M4 goes on sale, yet BMW has released full details for the production version of its new hero ahead of its Detroit show debut in January. In case you missed it, the M4 is the new name for the two-door M3, and the flagship M version is more powerful, faster and tougher than ever. The outgoing M3 Coupe has proved the benchmark for the Mercedes C63 AMG and the Audi RS5 so the M4 will has its work cut out for it, having to live up to not only its rivals, but its predecessor.
Mercedes' 'home' design studio in Sindelfingen, Germany is housed in an expansive 30,000-square meter building designed by Renzo Piano. The lobby is unassuming, but we're soon through into what Mercedes' grandly calls 'the Vision Room.' It's here that strategic meetings are held with the firm's board, and where we meet Gorden Wagener, Mercedes' head of design since 2008. It's in the Vision Room that Wagener convinced the Mercedes board of the merits of his overarching design philosophy: 'sensual purity'.
The Toyota Prius+ – the 2 seater Prius
Toyota are bashing on with the extension of the Prius brand as well as the extension of the hybrid drive train in to their regular model range. But probably the big Geneva news on the Toyota hybrid front is the public debut of the Toyota Prius+, the European version of the Prius V we saw at Detroit and the first Prius to offer enough seats to party in.
